“The Light Within”
It took me nine months to publish my book “The Light Within” and it was a remarkable journey for me. I had no idea on how to self-publish a book and learned as I went along using the internet, watching YouTube videos, and asking others for advice and guidance. My timescale was three months, but I guess I was over excited and over ambitious. The difficult part of the journey was the editing process and finding the right person to achieve my book vision/layout. My first test copy of the book I did not like and had to return to the drawing board and find someone in editing who was able to work with colored illustrations and print, so this delayed my publication. In the end I built many reliable contacts that I will be using for my second book. The proudest moment for me was the day I launched my book which was on 25th of May 2021 and sending out my first newsletter. To see my book ranked number 1 in Caribbean and Latin American Poetry on amazon was a tearful moment for me. This was a dream come true to have a finished product “The Light Within” a collection of inspirational poetry. My advice is to never give up on your dream. We all contain within us raw talent that is awaiting to be noticed by the world. Put yourself out there, conquer your fears and do what makes you happy. I am happy how my journey to publication turned out. Would I do it again…one hundred times -YES!
