MENTOR MATTERS
The reason behind the publication of “The Light Within” is my father, my mentor “Kazim Mohammed”. In 2019, at age 75 years he passed away due to natural causes.
He lived a good life. He loved his life. He had endless energy. My father had a great daily routine. He would be up at 5 a.m. every morning and we would smell the aroma of incense coming from his room and know that he was meditating. Then at 6 a.m. he would wake my sisters and I and we would go for walks in the country roads of Rio Claro where we grew up. We learned mindfulness through our dad. On our family walks, he would ask us questions such as “what do you see, hear, smell or feel?” Little did we know how powerful these questions were and today in my daily routine I use mindfulness to appreciate my life around me and meditation to still the mind and find my inner guidance. My father loved to read, and he had a library of books in his bedroom on many topics. He encouraged us to read, but equally think for ourselves. He was an enlightened being and even after his death, his words in his poems helped us to accept his departure from earth. His poem “Next Door”, also in his book “Songs of the Soul” has helped us all to pull through and we know that when a loved one has gone, their Spirit is still with us, and we would meet again on the other side.
My father continues to mentor me from the other side. I feel his light, energy, and Soul daily. He is the inspiration behind all of my poems and the reason why I write. Before he died, he wrote a collection of poems, “The Secrets of God – Revealed in Quanta Bits” which I will be publishing on his behalf soon. These poems have helped healed and enlightened me to live my life and give more daily and never take anything for granted. My father’s interpretation of life was so deep and powerful that it moved my thinking to quanta bits.
